The number of homes for sale in Placer County decreased in August when compared to July, and was down even more substantially compared to August of last year.

The number of new listings that were added to to the market in August was lower than the number added in July, and was also lower than the number of listing added to the market in August of last year.

The least expensive home listed for sale in Placer County is a 933 square-foot home on Eggleston Street in Roseville, which is listed for $72,900. The most expensive home for sale in Placer County is a 3,110 square-foot home on 80 Acres on McCourtney Road in Lincoln, which is listed for $6,200,000.

As of September 28th, 2011, in addition to the homes currently listed for sale or pending sale, there are also 658 homes listed in Placer County that are short sales in contract awaiting bank approval. There were 664 of these types of short sale contingent properties listed on July 31st and 596 listed on August 29th of last year. 

The number of Placer County homes that were pending sale in August was up when compared to July, and was up even more when compared to August of last year.

The average price per square-foot of Placer County homes decreased in August when compared to July and August of last year.

The average asking price for Placer County homes was higher in August than it was in July, but is was lower than it was August of last year.

The median sales price of homes in Placer County was up in August when compared to July, but it was down when compared to August of last year.

The inventory of homes for sale in Placer County, when calculated using the number of homes for sale compared to the number of homes that have recently sold stands at 2.3 months, which is lower than July of this year, and almost half of the inventory level during August of last year.
